Kids fed & in bed, laundry rotated, trash taken out, Facebook fix, Pinterest fix, Twitter fix and now it's time for Blogger! There's so much to catch up on and it's only been three days since my last blog!
Let's see...

- Grad school

Yeah, that should cover it.
The trip to Vilseck, Germany was a nice little getaway, even though it took 10 hours to arrive at our destination. Yep. We got stuck in a 3 hour traffic jam (aka stau) between Munich and Regensburg. Bleh. The kids did amazing! I'm really very proud of them.

After relaxing, visiting and crashing on Friday night, we played tourist on Saturday. About 20 minutes from our friends' house was Burg Veldenstein castle in Neuhaus, Bavaria. I can't find a website for it that's unrelated to the hotel on the property, but here's a
little history. The views from the castle were absolutely amazing! Germany is very beautiful and it wouldn't bother me one bit if we were stationed there.

I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm afraid of falling. Not heights, not flying, not going fast, but falling. Falling off a diving board, falling off a cliff, falling down the stairs of a dark German tower, all that stuff freaks me out. At least I made it up one 'flight' of the stairs-of-doom and to prove it, I took this photo.

Sadly, our trip was short and we were heading home on Sunday by mid-morning. Our lovely hostess loaded us up with her homemade banana bread (seriously homemade, she probably even made the bananas) and crunchy German apples. The drive home was only 7 hours with only a mini-stau. We took our time, too, and made a bunch of stops. One was at a 'famous' roadside eatery named Rosenberger's. This place is nicer than most restaurants. Of course, you pay for that niceness in the form of every single Euro in your wallet, but the good food and space age restrooms make it worth it. Here's the inside.

When I saw this tunnel, I knew we were about 20 minutes from our house and our couch and our stuff. It's always good to come home (even if it is to a sink full of dishes).
